| Metro Rail Lines Link Los Angeles For the urbanite, Los Angeles Metro Rail system is a highly useful mode of transportation. The urbanite spends countless hours behind the wheel during her normal workday. The urbanite spends hours searching for affordable parking only to find himself walking several blocks to reach his destination. The urbanite hates traffic. The Los Angeles urbanite does not want to drive on a day off if it isnt necessary. An alternative to the repetitiousness of the workweek one can Park and Ride the trains. For example, people living in the east side can park by Union Station and catch two round trip tickets to Universal City Walk for $3.20 and arrive in thirty minutes. This beats the cost of gas, traffic headaches and the parking fee. The Red Line deposits its passengers across the street from City Walk where they are greeted by tour trams that give complementary rides to the attraction. The trains are spacious and clean. Vandalism is almost non-existent. In fact, people generally show a reasonable amount of respect for fellow riders. The train lines connect the San Fernando Valley to Long Beach as well as to LAX, Norwalk, Wilshire Center, and Downtown L.A. This means almost anyone can take the Blue, Green or Red Line to Staples Center for a sporting event and again avoid the traffic, parking fees and exposure to DUIs. |

Were you like me and avoided the crossroads in the City of Commerce where the 5 fwy meets Atlantic Blvd., Telegraph Road, and Ferguson Drive? A couple of weeks ago while making my ritual drive from East Los Angeles to South Gate, I realized something different about this journey. The usual congestion problems found at these intersections were nonexistant due to the expansion and addition of new lanes. This construction project had been ongoing for years, however, today the good news for many motorists is that the development has been completed. |
